History

The North American Pari-Mutuel Regulators Association (NAPRA) is a tax exempt organization which was incorporated as a Kansas non-profit corporation on June 28, 1997. The original founding members were comprised of the following jurisdictions:

Alabama (Birmingham) (Macon County), Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming

Jurisdictions joining later were:
Alberta Racing Corporation, British Columbia, Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Manitoba, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia

The regulatory members contracted with American Card Technology, Inc. to create and maintain a user friendly database. The goal for this database was to be as easy as possible to access and retrieve licensing information and at no charge over and above member dues.
This system, which currently has over 750,000 listings, is operating smoothly, supplying licensing and ruling information which is current, valid and reliable.
